Rogan follows his latest lead to a crowded bookstore, where Dr. Victor Degoethels—author and self-proclaimed authority on werewolves—signs copies of his new book. When asked if he’s seen Eric Cord, the doctor answers simply: no.

Later, during a seminar on lycanthropy, Eric slips into the audience seeking answers. As Degoethels describes a wolf’s predatory nature, Eric is hit by a sudden vision of himself stalking and slaughtering sheep. He forces himself to stay through the lecture, shaken.

That night, Eric goes to the doctor’s home, begging for help. Degoethels dismisses him-Rogan’s photo of Eric insinuating a prank. The change rising inside him, Eric runs into the woods before it overtakes him.

The vision soon proves true: the wolf emerges and ravages a sheep pen, exactly as foreseen.

At dawn, the farmer calls Degoethels to inspect the scene. The doctor notes the troubling excess of the kill. Alone on the property, he encounters Eric—exhausted, desperate, and no longer able to deny what happened.

Back home, Degoethels hypnotizes Eric and draws out the memory of the night he shot the creature that bit him—his friend Ted. The doctor shifts from skeptic to investigator, now unsure whether Eric is cursed or simply guilty.

Resisting the supernatural explanation, Degoethels confines Eric to a reinforced sleep lab and calls the police. But as he watches the full transformation—the bones, the tearing, the wolf taking over—his disbelief finally collapses.

The myth he dismissed becomes undeniable.
